Exz File Explorer Change a Read Only File
I likewise had this problem except that EVERY file folder was effected. but have I fixed it I think. I likewise was the designated ambassador then I understand how frustrated you are
at that place is a thread namedWindows 10 attributes. where I detailed my steps. (sad my ipad doesn't testify me the exact address. so I cannot paste a link to it. )
in short
pace 1. make yourself the ambassador
stride 2. give your administrator total command "permissions" to read/write files. this is non automatic when y'all brand yourself an ambassador(I thought information technology should be and spent many hours tinkering frustrated but to discover but its not automatic but instead a whole other footstep you must do)
step 3 unmark the "read only" box and apply the changes. If you go a box that tells you you demand admin rights. click continue. and you will run into it change the folders. if it doesn't and you can click okay right abroad then you need to repeat pace two and 3
In some other thread someone said the marked read simply attribute is a red herring merely I could not save any files until I did step three
I did non disable OneDrive as some take suggested. I have files on there I demand to backup elsewhere. and I wasn't sure if disabling OneDrive would accept any effect on those files. evidently this is also associated w the read only issue
look for the brilliant tech Shawn's steps. his steps are shorter than mine. I am currently trying to notice that post again.... i take misplaced it in a body of water of folders/storage issues
good luck with this Very Frustrating effect.

I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows vii. I have Ambassador rights and total Permissions, merely it didn't work anyway. I couldn't alter the Read-only attribute. When I salve a new version of a file, the new version doesn't prove in Windows Explorer. This is a very serious problems which will crusade much headache for concern users. Information technology will probable exist very costly. Moreover, it is very dangerous, because if the user drags and drops the file, thinking that it is the new version, he will publish the former version.
The solution which I institute is to rename the directory, or copy the files to a new directory. If Windows doesn't let renaming (despite the fact that no plan is using it), you must restart the computer. Although it is still not possible to change the Read-but aspect, when you lot make changes to a file in the renamed directory, Windows Explorer will correctly display the new version of the file. /Thou. I had the same issue. Resolved it by using CMD (run as administrator), moved to main binder, and used Attrib *.* -r /S /D. That seemed to reset all the files that had been erroneously set to read-only.

Why practice all these replies always land "make yourself the administrator" but never land how to do that?! Don't you realize there are many people who look at these replies and have their optics get out of focus in total frustration because these replies never "stand lone?"
Any good author pre-answers his or her reader'southward obvious questions and makes all their statements stand by themselves. That is, never add links to other threads (like where someone has to search for some obscure instruction on multiple pages), and never add links to MS posts written for techies, and so on. I'm sorry to constantly bluster only no ane here ever really seems to but apparently out-and-out "GET It."
Delight, become some empathy, and then write a respond.
Cheers in advance!

I guess folks who post herein quite ofttimes are also busy trying to get some sort of Grand Poobah Techie Guru because of their huge mail numbers. They practise that instead of actually creating useful posts that get the chore done for simpleton schleps like moo-wah (I call up that'southward the French word for "me"). Frankly, I'1000 embarrassed for such people.
My recommendation for gaining empathy and and then writing a post however stands.

Why do all these replies always country "make yourself the administrator" but never state how to practice that?! Don't you realize there are many people who look at these replies and take their eyes become out of focus in full frustration because these replies never "stand lone?"
Any good writer pre-answers his or her reader's obvious questions and makes all their statements stand by themselves. That is, never add links to other threads (like where someone has to search for some obscure education on multiple pages), and never add links to MS posts written for techies, and so on. I'thousand sorry to constantly bluster only no one hither e'er really seems to only manifestly out-and-out "GET IT."
Simply a few points in response. Ideally speaking of grade answers should be perfectly self-contained and include detailed steps with screenshots so no-one has any problems following the instructions. Except what y'all forget or ignore is that this is more a forum where end users assist each other, than one where paid MS employees help terminate users (TBH, the less said about about employee posts I've seen hither, the better). So given that people are volunteering whatever time and effort they tin can spare to informally share what they've managed to effigy out, it's inappreciably surprising if all answers don't live upwards to the high standards you might be expecting.
Not just that, fifty-fifty the level of detail required can vary drastically from person to person. For example, to someone I wrote tersely while in a bustle - "in Disk Direction delete all partitions, create a simple volume, ..." - and they reported back that information technology worked. To someone else I had to spell out everything starting from the Start menu, and so where to click, where to right-click, which exact push button to printing and then on. So is it any surprise that not everyone has the time or fifty-fifty inclination to spoon feed others? Sometimes one has to put in a certain corporeality of effort to understand an reply properly, or ask follow-up questions if in doubt. That's simply the nature of a forum similar this, and information technology should be obvious actually to anyone who's even been involved in similar fora. I know how frustrating it tin be for the person who's in a pickle and possibly panic-stricken and just wants a perfectly clear step-by-step solution Now, only expecting that of every answer and berating people in general for not providing it is just pointless.
1 last point though - you tin can and should accept higher expectations regarding posts past company employees who're being paid to provide support here.

Effort and copy your files to the Documents binder, or to a subdirectory in the Documents folder. Then change the read only aspect. Information technology seems that Windows 10 has disallowed keeping editable personal files anywhere on the hard drive.
